Merchant Archive--Nostalgic Evocations and Contemporary Inspirations

Last week I went to Queen's Park for flat hunting, having gained nothing satisfied. However, not entirely empty-handed , I found a exquisite store beyond my expectation.

As the website described, Merchant Archive is a vintage and contemporary lifestyle shop which has grown from modest beginnings into a hub for stylists, fashion, interior designers and celebrities alike. I found a lot of extremely delicate Victorina as corsets, dresses with exquisite embroidery, hats dramatically decorated with precious and colourful feathers, antique furnitures and so on. And there are also some contempotary collections created by independent young designers.

What deserves to be mentioned is the brilliant black and white photographs by Marco Sanges, an Italian Photographer who now lives and works in London. Reminiscent of Film Noir, Sanges' enchanting and powerful images visually shocked me, kinda beauty of dark and secret.

Without exception, the visiting card is kind of sweet poetic melancholy.
